Headteacher Weekly blog week beginning 30th November
Date: 6th Dec 2015 @ 3:22pm
Well Christmas season has certainly begun and the countdown begins.
This week, it was the children in Reception and Nursery who got to perform to the school and their parents. Their show was of course centred around the traditional Christmas story. The children looked wonderful in their costumes and I was amazed how well the children remembered their lines on stage. The singing was so good and the children did so well to remember all those actions. All the children certainly deserved their Christmas themed trips. Our Nursery pupils got to enjoy breakfast with Father Christmas and they had a fabulous time. The Reception pupils went to Threapwood to help choose our Christmas tree. I have to say they did a great job and it stands proudly in the front entrance.
Our School Council have been busy this week. We sponsered a tree to be displayed in the local church as part of the festival held this weekend. Mrs McCarthy did a great job pulling it altogether and the tree looked great. The student council decided to includd dolly pegs that were painted to look like pupils, fir cones painted to look like the strawberry on our school emblem and wishes from the pupils for their Christmas wish for the future. We attended the big switch on of lights on Friday and Grace, the Chairperson of the council, spoke about what inspired our design. It was only then we realised we had not got any lights!! But it didn't matter as we managed to get lots of votes and finished 2nd place! Many thanks for those who voted.
The week ended with the school's Christmas Fair. I was so pleased to see so many people attend the Fair. Father Christmas was clearly a big draw. I must thank the PTA for all their hard work in pulling it all together and I am sure it has raised a substantial amount of money for the school.
Well next week will be just as busy with the Infant performances. Judging by the singing I have heard in my office, I am sure it will be a great show and I can't wait to see it for the first time next week.
