Year 4 Football Heber Tournament.
It has been a busy week of football and to finish the week we had the Heber Year 3 and 4 mixed football tournament.
We took two teams - one with Year 4 and one with Year 3 pupils.
Mr Walker coached the Year 3 team and he could not have been more proud of them. Eva was incredible in goal. Fantastic saves and her distribution was amazing! We played Tilston first and Alfie pressed their defender and then smashed it in for a 1 - 0 victory.
Then it was the 2 Farndon teams playing each other. Obviously, the Year 4s dominated and Jermiah scored twice, but then the Year 3 team found their form. Alfie narrowly missed twice but near the final whistle the ball came out to the far post and Lucase finished. A 3 - 1 defeat. Then, we played Malpas. Alfie was clean through and their keeper made an incredible save. But Malpas rallied and scored for a 2 - 0 win for them. Last up was Bickerton. We had several shots. Jessica was clean through and played in Alfie, whose shot went narrowly wide. Lucas then had one saved. Sadly, with just minutes left, Bickerton shot, Eva saved it but it hit the post, rebounded and they tapped it in.
The Year 3s can be very proud of their performance. Player of the tournament was Alfie who was an absolute live wire.
Our Year 4 team started with a rest, followed by a match against the other Farndon team which was a 3 - 1 win. They followed this up with a comfortable 3 - 0 win against Tilston - Jermiah scored 2 goals and Henry 1. Their third game was a tight match against Malpas. Jermiah put us into a 2 goal lead, but Malpas got a goal back. It was a tense end to the game, but we won 2 - 1. Our luck run out in the final game. Bickerton were the opponents and after several chances were spurned by us, they broke clear. Flo made a great save, but it came off the post and they tapped in the rebound. A 1 - 0 loss.
Waiting for the results was tense. We finished level on points, but with 1 goal more in goal difference we came back with the trophy. Player of the tournament was Henry who gave it everything.
