Year 3 and 4 Athletics
Indoor athletics season is upon us. We were the winners last year, so the team were determined to defend their crown of the Heber Indoor Athletics Championships.
Our team had been well drilled where they had spent lunch breaks learning the techniques to throw further, jump longer or higher than everyone else. There were team sprints, hurdles and the longer distance run.
Although it was a team event, there were so many amazing individual performances that are worthy of a mention. Alfie and Lilly were incredible in the javelin, both achieving 1st place and Jessica grabbed silver. In chest push, Harry and Finley nearly launched their balls out of the hall to win and Eva also came 1st. Anna applied her trampolining skills to the speed bounce and her feet were a blur to win gold. And for the boys, Dash also won speed bounce.
It wasn't just throwing we did well, our jumpers also were fantastic. Alfie and Hattie both won gold in the standing long jump and Ruby and Willow leapt to victory in the vertical high jump.
In the running, it is fair to say the girls dominated. Eva and Amelie Rose won their sprint. Our long distance specialists Hattie and Jessica won the paarlauf with ease. In the team huddle race Willow, Jessica, Hattie and Ruby came first. And it didn't end there. Anna and Amelie Rose won their race too. For the boys, it was gold in the relay for our team that included Harry, Dash, Alfie and Iddy.
The final scores were tight. With 226 points, beating 2nd place by just 6 points, was Farndon - Champions!
Well done to all our athletes! Every point earned went towards our win. You can all be very proud.
