Science Fair

Lesson: Science

Class: Year 5 Owls Year: 2025 - 2026

On the 9th March it was time once again for the Heber Science Fair,

Several of our Key Stage pupils once again went above and beyond and created some wonderful presentations to wow the judges.

In Year 6, Alex shared his passion for the universe - he is the next Alex Cox in the making! He presented his research on how the universe was created. He also used words and pictures to describe all the different ways that our universe might come to an end. But don't worry everyone - Alex thinks that it shouldn't happen for over a billion years.

In Year 5, Lilly and Jessica did a very similar presentation. However, there's included a wonderful model of the planets within our solar system. The planets were all created to scale and the appropriate colouring. I didn't know that Mercury was a silver colour!

Also in Year 5, Evelyn and Olivia did a fascinating presentation on the water cycle. Their project involved some research on this and the science behind it. However, they also completed a very clever experiment which modelled the process perfectly.

Finally, in Year 4, Freya had a wonderful experiement where she was trying to find the strongest acids and bases that you can find in and around your kitchen. She had conical flasks, ph test indicators and had some of them over flowing due to their violent chemical reaction.

Rosettes are awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd. And amazingly, for the second year in a row
