Netball Tournament Report

Lesson: Physical education

This was the first time our netball team entered the (A) tournament for the Chester SSP - so they were up agaisnt the very best across the whole of Chester. It was a very cold, wet and windy day, but that certainly didn't dampen their spirits. It was fair to say that they were excited wearing the new school netball kit.

The first opponents were Hoole. Farndon dominated and goals from Flo and Rosie meant we cruised to a 6 - 0 win, with our defence rarely troubled. The second match was more f a test against Eccleston. Defensively, we were strong throughout and with great pressure we managed another clean sheet. Sienna ensured transition from defense and into attack was quick and controlled and this was follwed up with accurate passes into the circle from Polly and Saoirse.

Next up, it was Mill View. Changes were made and Violet was excelent as centre. Layla and Edith held off any pressure from the opposition and Polly and Rosie converted nearly every pass into the circle with some incredible long range shooting. It was another great match and it ended 6 - 0. Our final match was agaisnt Boughton Heath, who were the tournament favourites. We had to battle throughout due to the tricky weather conditions and Eloise as GK was called into action, making multiple interceptions and Edith's steady and reliable hands kept the pressure on. The short match time went against us this match and although they battled well, it was a 5 - 1 defeat.

Overall, the girls all played brilliantly and we could not have asked for any more from all of the players. Conditions were tough and they gave it their all. No semi-final this time, but confidence is high for their next two tournaments. Fingers crossed there will be some silverware.
