Rounders Success
This term Mrs Wakefield and Mrs Cooper have been busy training our Year 6 pupils on how to play rounders. The children have really taken to it and so hopes were high when we entered the CSSA Chester District Rounders tournament.
There were 22 schools participating, but that did not worry our team; they were brimming with confidence having experienced hours and hours of practise!
In the group phase we faced 3 teams. It was a confidence boosting 3 wins with convincing wins against Oldfield and Belgrave. So it was the semi-final next against a strong St Martin's side. Both teams were undefeated and you could not split them. It finished all square and it was a tense wait to find out who made it to the final. As Farndon had 1 less out, we progressed to the final!
Huntingdon lay in wait in the final. Our team gave their absolute all and we could not be more proud of them. Hats off to Huntingdon though who were a really strong team. They won 7 - 3 and so it was runners up this year for our Year 6 Rounders team. Considering the high level of competition, it was a tremendous achievement. We were awarded medals and team captain Leo proudly held the runner's up trophy aloft.
A huge well done to all our players and of course their coaches. But they are not finished there. On Thursday they will compete in the Heber tournament!
