Netball Victory
Miss Brown and Mrs Goodfellow could not be more proud of all the girls who participated,; everyone gave it their all at the Heber netball tournament.
Farndon Blacks had their eyes set on bringing home the trophy for the second year running. They had 6 games to play, and they won all 6!
Layla, Ella and Edith did an outstanding job in defence - only conceding 2 goals in the whole tournament. The ball moved effortlessly down the court in the very safe hands of Eloise, Violet and Sienna. And it was their amazing balls into the final third for Polly and Rosie. Their shooting was outstanding! They racked up an incredible 55 goals between them.
By winning all 6 games, they took first place and retained the trophy that proudly stands in the glass cabinet in the school’s entrance.
And what a fantastic overall performance from the Farndon Reds team. With many players having very little netball experience and after only a few training sessions, they managed to win a very impressive 3 out of their 6 games! With the most of the team being Year 5s, the future looks bright for next year.
Wins over Bickerton, Tilston and Tushingham meant they finished in third place overall.
Gracie-May, the team Captain, was making life difficult for all opposition shooters in the circle, and was well supported by April. Our defensive players - Isla, Evelyn and Millie - read the ball well with some fantastic interceptions across the court. Lily C did a great job as Centre, keeping up with play with some great attacking moves into Alba, Lilly F and Flo. Lilly F and Alba were making space and Flo covered so much of the court. There was great movement in the circle by Saoirse, which meant the shots kept coming with some great goals scored by Flo and Saoirse.
After only a small amount of training, every member of this team worked hard, focused on what they had learned so far and never gave up. We are super proud of a well-deserved third place and we are well placed to retain the trophy next year!
Well done to everyone
