Cross Country
On Saturday, it was the third race of the West Cheshire Schools' Cross Country Championships. We had another great turn out, with 16 athletes.
We started well, with Annie producing another fine run to finish 5th again. And for our Year 3 boys, Austin finished in the top 5 again and Will was hoping to break into the top 10, so was very pleased with 10th place. In the Year 4 girls race, it was blown wide open when medal hopeful Jessica pulled out with illness. Having previously won bronze medals, Hattie seized the opportunity and won her first silver. Anna had another strong race in 5th. Amber made her debut and was in second for the first lap but then faded slightly but it was all good experience for the next race. Eva also ran well and fingers crossed she got a PB.
Having won gold in the previous race, Dash was determined to back it up with another win. He hit the front early and looked confident. However, he was nearly caught at the run in and it was a sprint finish, with Dash crossing the line first. Marcus had another fantastic race with his third top 10 finish.
For Year 5, Evelyn ran well for another 5th place finish, but we still think she can go faster. All eyes were on Blake for Year 5. He was desperate to win a medal and ran a brilliant tactical race and stayed on the shoulder of first place. At the final bend he went for it and the two battled it out for the gold. It was silver this time, but what a race! Oscar ran an incredible second lap to finish well and Thomas made his debut run and was pleased to finish and cross the line.
In Year 6, the boys athletics team captain, George, ran another fine race and looks certain to get yet another personal best. And for the girls, Polly ran a really mature race and looked imperious at the front. It was another gold for her.
Another great morning for the Farndon Cross Country runners. 2 Golds; 2 Silvers
