Cross Country

It’s only the first week back, but the Cross Country season is well under way! It was the team event held at the Heber High School, where we competed against other feeder schools. We took a large squad with pupils from Year 1 all the way up to Year 6.

I think it is fair to say we started strongly! In Year 1, William O’Brien claimed gold and Finley finished 5th. And the girls made the podium too, with Enza claiming silver and Elodie bronze. For Year 2, Ottie showed so much confidence to earn his bronze medal and Molly did so well to finish 7th.

The Infants set the bar high and the Juniors could only be inspired by their performance. In Year 3 Austin claimed 6th sport and Sophie finished in the top 10, but it was Annie Edney who won our third bronze medal. Our Year 4 boys ran their first ever cross country and can be proud of how well they did; Dash was 6th and Dexter ran well for 11th. Our girls in Year 4 added to our medal tally: Anna Antrobus claimed another bronze and Jessica romped home for gold!

And so for the Upper Juniors and hopes were high for more medal success. In Year 5, Evelyn was thrilled to earn her first bronze medal and Lilly and Jessica can be very proud of how they ran and earned valuable points for the team. The Year 5 boys really put on a show! Jonah was edged out into 5th, but there were more medals with Blake claiming bronze and Henry won our third gold medal. For Year 6, Oscar shone in his first ever race earning a very creditable 7th place. Enoch came in as a late replacement and showed such grit and determination to not give up and to cross that finish line! Our Year 6 girls closed out the competiton in style. Sienna won yet another bronze medal and Polly excuted the perfect race with a strong finish to win gold!

We finished third overall with Tilston winning. Well done to all of our amazing athletes!
