On the side bar,  is a range of documents that has a list of suggested activities for children who are self-isolating. These activities cover most aspects of the curriculum and should be enough to keep children engaged for prolonged periods at home.

We have also included website links to any pages that are mentioned in the document along with other handy sites that could support home-learning.

This term year 3 and 4 will be exploring the local area of Farndon with their topic 'A Street in Our Time'. They are going to be looking at the history of Farndon and investigating how it has geographically changed over the years. They will also be looking at its links to the Anglo Saxons by researching, amongst other things, the death of King Edward the Elder who died in Farndon after a Mercian and Welsh revolt in Chester. If your child has any interesting artifacts or resources linked to our topic, please feel free to being them in to share with us.

Year 3 children will have PE on a Thursday and a Friday. Please ensure that your child has a full P.E. kit in school at all times. As the weather can be changeable at this time of year, it may be advisable to also include some jogging bottoms and a sweatshirt.

New spellings will be taught on a Monday, where a 'Look, Cover, Write, Check' sheet will be given out for children to practice these new spellings at home. During the rest of the week, children will be given a variety of activities based around these spellings to help embed the new pattern or rule. Instead of a weekly spelling test, children will be assessed on the spellings they have learnt so far at the end of each half-term, with this including 3-4 words from each week.

Homework will be given out on a Friday and will be expected in on the following Wednesday. In addition to this, children will be expected to read regularly at home. Additional Maths is available on ‘Mymaths’ where children can practice previously taught topics. Children have also been given a Times Table Rockstars login that will allow them to practice their timestables, which we encourage children to play on regularly.

I look forward to a fantastic year togther.
