Football Tournaments

Lesson: Physical Development

Class: Year 1 Foxes Year: 2016 - 2017

There were two tournaments today at the Heber; one for the Infants and one for the Juniors.

The Infants were up against 5 other schools and it was in the format of a league. Win the league and you win the tournament.

First up was Tilston. We got off to a confident start and Jamie was the star of the match with 3 goals. Josh got 2 goals and Noah scored when he came on from the bench. Our second game was a tight affair against Bickerton. Josh put us ahead, but Bickerton drew level with the last kick of the game. Ryan, our goalkeeper, helped us win with some important saves. It was an attacking masterclass against Malpas and Josh put in a man of the match performance with his hat trick. The game finished 5 - 0.

Next up, it was Tattenhall. They went ahead, but Josh scored to bring us level and with the last kick of the game, Josh scored the winner for a 2 - 1 victory. Joe was fantastic in midfield and was man of the match.

Our final game was Tushingham and we knew a draw might be enough to win the league. We went behind again, but Charles put in a man of the match performance with absolutely solid defending. Jamie scored the vital goal for a 1 - 1 draw. With 3 wins and 2 draws we won the league! Champions and undefeated.

Our Year 3 and 4 then played after school and hopes were high.

We won our first match against Tilston with goals from Harry and Jonnie. We didn't get into our stride against Bickerton, but a late goal sealed a 1 - 0 win.

Our third match was yet another tight game, but Malpas edged it with a great strike to win 1 - 0. Tattenhall were next. We pressed and had most of the play and eventually nicked a goal from Oliver to win 1 - 0. In the final, Malpas B stunned the team with 2 well taken goals, but Oliver scored a wonder strike to draw us level - a 2 -2 draw.

The team finished third with 3 wins and 1 draw and 1 defeat.

Well done to all the children who gave it their all and played so well.
