Coronation Celebration King Charles III

Lesson: British Values

On Friday, the day before the actual coronation of King Charles III, we celebrated this historic occassion as a school community.

The day started with a whole school assembly which focused on history of the monarchy and the role they now play in our modern and diverse society. We looked at how the British monarchy give us a sense of identity on the world stage and following this our Anti Bullying Ambassadors gave a small presentation on the importance of embracing our own sense of identity but also to celebrate each other's differences.

We were fortunate enough to have so many entries for our Coronation competitions. There were so many wonderful cakes that were fit for a King! Judging them was incredibly diffcult. We awarded 3rd, 2nd and 1st prizes for Best Looking Cake and Best Coronation Themed Cake. And our pupils certainy impressed with their Royal Coronation Eggs. Winners in each Milestone recevied a certificate and a coronation teddy bear.

Parents were invited on site and the whole school were outside and ready to perform. We sang our coronation song and it was so atmospheric. The school windows were dripping in all the work the children had created and the PTA were on hand to sell scones with jam and cream, cakes and drinks.

We hope everyone enjoys their long weekend and the coronation of King CharleS III.
