Anti bullying mannequin challenge

Lesson: Personal, Social and Emotional Education

Class: Year 5 Owls Year: 2016 - 2017

During Anti-bullying week, the children in Year 5 spent a long time thinking about the impact unkind words or behaviour can have on people. After lots of discussion, they compiled a list of emotions associated with such behaviour and how it could make someone feel. The words were pretty powerful and after lots of ideas, we decided to produce a video detailing our thoughts. As the Mannequin Challenge seems to be a growing phenomenon, we decided to use this to show all of the emotions that we talked about.

Using whiteboard pens, they wrote the words on various parts of their body as a visible 'scar' - demonstrating that unkind words and behaviour do indeed leave a lasting mark. The end of the video promotes 'Making a Stand' against bullying - a clever play on words by the children to the 'mannequin' aspect of the project.

I am sure you will agree that the final video is not only powerful but incredibly thought provoking.

Well done to all of the children for their mature attitude and excellent behaviour throughout the process.
