Year 3 and 4 Football Tournament

After the success of the Year  2 team, the pressure was on the Year 3 and 4 team. It was a league of 7 schools; finish top and you win the tournament.

Our first match was against Tattenhall. It was a slow and stuttery start. They were having to get used to the astro turf and wet conditions and the ball was zipping off the surface. Once one goal went in, more followed and Harry, Josh and Jamie contributed to a 4 - 0 win.

The next match was against Malpas. Both defences were tested and it was a tough match. Jamie played a lovely through ball for Harry to race onto. He lashed it into the net. Then, Josh quickly added another for a 2 - 0 victory.

Next up was Tilston. Harry was on fire and scored 2 and Jamie added another with a deflection off a defender. It ended 3 - 0. After another win against Shocklach with Ben scoring a fine goal, we faced a tough Bickerton team. Ben opened the scoring and Josh added a second in a 2 - 0 win.

For our final game the heavens opened. We faced Tushingham and without a break, legs were starting to look heavy. We had several chances but couldn't take any. It ended 0 - 0. Undefeated and Joe didn't concede a single goal! We won the league by 2 clear points and won this tournament for the first time!

Well done to all our boys who can be very proud of how they played. As well as winning the Heber tournament, they still sit top of their Cheshire league. Player of the tournament was a tricky one. Joe did not let in a single goal and was great between the posts and he was helped by a strong defensive display by Charles. Tom was assured in midfield. Ben, Jamie and Josh were a constant goal threat and took their goals well. And Alessandro and Ollie both had great debuts for the team. But with a strong and powerful display and some great finishes, Harry just edged it as my player of the tournament. Well done to all - I was proud of all our footballers on Thursday.
