Year 3 and 4 Football Champions

On Friday, we enjoyed a festival of football with St Oswalds. Our Year 6 team, led by Sienna Davies, put on a great show and ran out 4 - 1 winners; Harry E scored a hat trick and was player of the match!

We also sent a Year 5 team as a warm up for next year. They had a tough game and it was tense throughout. Tom bossed the midfield. Having gone 2 - 1 down to a penalty, we fought back and Tom equalised with a rocket! It finished 2 - 2 with Tom being player of the match.

The showcase game was the Champions League Chester Premiership Final match with the Year 3 and 4 team. The two teams who won their leagues met in this winner takes all final. St Oswalds raced into a 1 - 0 lead with a gorgeous lob over our keeper. We were rocked, but came back fighting. Just before half time, Daniel raced clear and scored.

The second half began with a free kick for Farndon. Alex hit a 20 yard screamer, which the goalkeeper could only palm into his own goal. St Oswalds then went on the attack and we were on the back foot for the rest of the game. Thankfully, Daniel calmed the nerves with late goal. It finished 3 - 1. Farndon are the new Champions of Chester; the first time in the school's history. A proud moment for everyone, particularly as Henry, our team captain, lifted the trophy high above his head.
