Tense Cup Match

On Tuesday night our Year 5 and 6 football team squared up to St Clare's Primary in the first round of the cup.

Both sides were evenly matched and after a tense first half it ended with no goals from either side. Both teams were giving their absolutely all and there were chances at either end. Toby in Year 5 made his debut and gave a solid and assured performance in goal, and then swapped with Jack at half time.

Farndon started the second half brightly and there was a quick break down the right hand side. James squared the ball for Tom to neatly finish and put us 1 - 0 ahead. Our tails were up and we put the pressure on and there were plenty of chances but the St Clare's goalkeeper was in fine form. St Clare's counter attacked well but our 2 centre backs defended heroically at times. We breathed a sigh of relief at the final whistle, winning the game by a single goal.

There were so many fantastic performances. Todd was the engine in midfield and James was a constant threat down the right hand side. It is hard to pick an out right Man of the Match between the two Harrys, but Harry A in Year 6 just nicked it - or as we like to call him - The Rock!

A big thank you to Mr Erraji for his support in preparing and coaching the team and thank you to all the parents for their wonderful support. We look forward to seeing you all again in the next round.
