Speech and Drama Festival

On Saturday, Mrs Higley and Mrs Wakefield took a team to the Speech and Drama Festival held at the King's School.

Both Mrs Wakefield and Mrs Higley have worked hard this term, preparing the children in a club after school. The children had to learn one of two poems to perform in front of the judges and the audience.

The Year 5 pupils were first up in the morning: Toby, Nerys, Roxie, India, William and Isaac confidently performed their poems and did a great job. India managed to get a 2nd place certicate which was a fantastic achievement.

In the afternoon, it was the Year 6 pupils' turn. Alanah, Halle, Emma, Grace and Henry had worked hard to learn their poem and they were all word perfect! All the scores were so incredibly tight and above 80. Two of our pupils finished in the top 3! Halle came third and Grace got a second place.

As a school, we try to encourage a love of poetry, and the pupils in each of the classes have the opportunity to practise performing and reciting their poems as individuals or in groups. Mrs Wakefield and Mrs Higley were incredibly proud of how well all the children did; they were an absolute credit to our school!
