Local MP Visits Farndon

Friday was an exciting day for some of our children. Antoinette Sandbach, our local MP for our area, came to visit the school to see how the children were celebrating European Day of Languages and to speak to the children about British values and democracy.

Antoinette met with Grace in Year 6, who is the leader of the Tomorrow Party. In May, during the election, Grace's party won 5 constituencies and was duly elected to represent the pupils of the school in the local community. Our local MP was keen to hear how they got elected (picking up valuable tips for when she is up for re-election) and the work they have been doing in the local area. Grace, along with her running mates Harry, Emma and Halle, shared how they are trying to organise more "family" events within the village, including "flicks in the sticks"; family film nights in the village.

The children also gave Antoinette, who was joined by local councillor Howard Greenwood, a tour of the school and they were both impressed with how the school is presented and the children's work that was on the walls. They both came to look at our school mobiles and we had lengthy discussions on the future of the school and their possible replacement.

It was a valuable day and the children certainly learnt a lot about politics and how democracy works within our country.
