League Football Match

The Farndon football team played its first league football match on Friday away at Huntingdon. Huntingdon have enjoyed success, winning the league in Chester over the last few seasons.

The game started well, but Huntingdon took the lead with a shot from outside the box. Then, our defence was under pressure, and we were thankful to Jack, our Goalkeeper, who pulled off a couple of really good saves to keep us in the game.

Then, we hit a purple patch near the end of the first half. We put together some good flowing passing moves and the game turned in our favour. We equalised when Tommy put their defender under pressure, then Archie did a surging run through the middle and finished confidently. There was still time for a third goal and so the half finished with us 3 - 1 up.

We started the second half like we finished the first and went into a 4 - 1 lead; Archie putting the finishing touches to Tommy's cross. Huntingdon came back into the game with an incredible 20 yard strike. Then, it was quickly 4- 3 thanks to another top strike outside of the box. Nerves crept into our game then and just before the final whistle Huntingdon scrambled in an equaliser. The game finsihed 4 - 4. It was classic in many ways and there were plenty of positives to take from the game before we play our next league match against Tattenhall.
