Junior Sports Day

Well it always seems to be the case that the Infants always fall victim to the weather. The reserve date is the 25th June so fingers and toes crossed.

It might have been cold and windy, but the Juniors braved the conditions as it was at least dry and went out for the 2019 Junior Sports Day.

We had the usual sprint, relay and long distance races, but the children clearly enjoyed balancing the rugby ball between the legs and the ball on their head. And of course no sports day would be complete without doing the sack race and egg and spoon. Along with all the track events, Mr Firkins also led some field events. There was target throw and javelin, and even welly wanging - there is talk this event will replace shot put in the Olympics!

There were some terrific performances, close finishes and it was tight on points right until the end.

This year Beech won on the track by just 6 points, but the field events changed everything. The Junior winners for 2019 were Maple! Congratulations to everyone in the Maple team.

The final points table was as follows:

Maple: 332 points

Willow: 307 points

Beech: 302 points

Sycamore: 280 points
