Hockey Tournament

Today was the turn of the Year 5 and 6 Hockey team to compete with other schools locally in the Broxton cluster. We took two teams who worked hard in the build up to prepare and practise. Some of the players had clearly been practising at home!

Our Stripes team were competitve and their shape was good. Henry was strong at the back and William loved bossing the midfield. Although Maisie hadn't played much hockey before, she was a natural and looked like she had played for years! Player of the Match award went to Joseph who wore the Farndon jersey with pride and played incredibly well. For some pupils, this was their first time representing the school and they can certainly be proud with the way they played.

The Reds team drew their first game 1 -1 with Rhys scoring the all important goal. This was quickly followed up with a 1 - 0 victory - this time Tom being on the score sheet. The team as a whole played incredibly well. They made the final where it was another 1 -1 draw. It was again Rhys who took his goal really well. They went through the tournament without losing a match but they were edged out on goals scored, so it was runners up this time. Player of the Match was close. Thomas Braun had a terrific attitude and played so so well. But Rhys earns the award through the vital goals that he scored.

Well done to everyone who took part. There were some great performances all over the pitch and there will be some difficult decisions when we come to select a team for Deeside Ramblers.
