Football Tournaments

We played a Year 2 tournament in the Hall at the Heber and a Year 3 and 4 football tournament on the outside pictures on Thursday.

We took two teams to the Infant torunament and they both competed so well. Our Squirrels team drew 2 matches and scored a couple of goals. Apart from the match against Tattenhall, all their other games were tight defeats. Our Hedgehogs team played very well. They won 4 matches against Malpas, Tilston, Tushingham and Squirrels and a draw against Tattenhall. Hedgehogs were level on points with Tattenhall at the end and it went down to goals scored! We scored 12 goals and Tattenhall score 14. So it was runners up this time, but all our players can be very proud of themselves.

Player of the tournament for Hedgehogs was Jermiah and for Squirrels it was Rory.

Our Year 3 and 4 pupils were equally impressive in their matches. However, they started slow! Malpas were their first opponents and we were quick to create 3 great chances, but we didn't take them - and got punished! Malpas scored and held on for a 2 - 0 win.

After a defeat, you always look for a reaction and we certainly got one! Tushingham were the opponents and our midfield combined really well. Logan scored a brace and Ollie J Toby and Keagan scored in a 5 - 0 victory. The next match was Tilstone. Although we dominated possession, we couldn't find that final finish until Thomas got hold of the ball. He smashed one into the bottom corner for a 1 - 0 win.

Next up was Tattenhall B and it was a frustrating 0 - 0 draw. Again, we had the chances but just didn't take them. Another victory followed against Shocklach with Ollie J and Logan on the score sheet - Logan came on as sub and scored with his first touch! It was a must win against Tattenhall A and Kegan gave us a great start, scoring in the bottom left corner. However, a mix up at the back let Tattenhall sneak in to equalise. With time running out, Ollie J saved his best for last. He broke down the left and unleashed a rocket into the top right corner - a 2 - 1 win.

It was another tense wait! Farndon had 14 points ..... Malpas 15 points. Runners up again. It was a story of missed chances but they can all be very proud of how well they played. Farrah played particularly well in our back two, Player of the tournament goes to Thomas.
