Football Tournament

On Thursday 10th June, we sent 9 of our footballers from Year 5 and 6 to participate in the Broxton football tournament. They were in competition with other local schools and played on the astro at the Heber High School. There were 7 teams in total and it was a league format - win the league and you win the trophy!

Sadly. Harvey, our goalkeeper, missed out with illness, but Jamie stepped in and did a fantastic job. Our first game was against a tough Malpas team. Chances were few and far between and it end in a draw 0 - 0. In the second gameIn our next game, we stepped up the pace and Rhys had a big impact. He scored 2 and striker Dylan chipped in with one as well to make it a 3 - 0 win against Tushingham.

Our third game ended in controversy. It was a tight game agaisnt Bickerton, and we missed a couple of chances that we perhaps should have taken. With the scores still level, the bell sounded for the end of the game. Fardnon stopped, but Bickerton raced through and scored - goal given! It was a tough one to take, but as we know we must all abide with the on field's referee and their decisions.

The team had to get over the defeat quickly as a tough match agaisnt Tattenhall followed. Ralph scored but it was an tense affair. Under pressure, we conceded an own goal and it ended 1 - 1. Shocklach was a 3 - 0 win with Finn getting on the score sheet and Ralph bagged a brace. In our final game, it was Tilston. By now, we had found our form and played some lovely football. It was 2 - 0 win with both Finn and Ralph scoring once again.

In the end, we finished Runners Up - one point behind Malpas; the defeat agaisnt Bickerton a crucial one.

Ralph was top scorer and the team as a whole deserve huge credit as they played some lovely football throughout. Well done everyone.
