Football Cup Match

Wednesday was a tense re-match with Acresfield,but this time it was in the cup. 

We started brightly with a couple of half chances, but their keeper was nearly 6 ft and was hard to beat. Acresfield played themselves into the game and the pressure began to build. Just before half time, Acresfield passed their way through our back two and finished well in the bottom corner. 

Half time brought a change of shape. We went with a 3 - 2 - 1 with Oliver and Alex as wing backs. It seemed to work with Jonnie and Oliver starting to win the midfield battle. Then, the sucker punch! Straight off a goal kick, the Acresfield player volleyed it straight back into the goal. 

Even at 2 - 0 down, we continued to fight. Alex was having his best game and made several successful runs down the right and set up good chances, but their keeper was equal to them. With minutes to go we were killed off with a third goal given that looked like it hadn't crossed the line. 

Wasn't our year this year and luck was against us. Alex was the clear man of the match showing heart and desire right to the very end.
