Football Against Waverton

After some tough defeats in the Chester Cup, the Year 5 and 6 football team were hoping to pick themselves up and dust themselves down against a tough Waverton side.

The match started off fairly evenly. Waverton had a few long efforts, but Harry was able to keep them out with his feet. We were then having to soak up some of the pressure for long periods and we were able to hit them on the break with long balls through to Oliver. He had a few half chances, but their keeper did well to keep them out.

Waverton opened the scoring with a neat cross from left. A contreversial goal was given that didn't appear to cross the line, but it was later chalked off. Half time approached and we found ourselves 3 - 0 down, but we still felt we could pull things back as we were making chances.

The second half started with another great chance for us, but we just couldn't finish it off. From this point on, we lost a bit of confidence and had to dig in. Waverton went on to score three more goals and the game ended 6 - 0. Man of the Match this match has to go to Tom in Year 5. Wehn he came on, he did a great job at the back and tightened things up. He clearly loves defending and he can be pleased with how he performed.

We have to forget this one quickly and look forward to the cup match with Acresfield.
