Feast of Football

It has been a busy few weeeks for our football teams.

After getting knocked out of the cup, the Year 5 and 6 football team had a point to prove and they had a tricky fixture away to Christleton. Things didn't start well as our keeper, Jack, was away ill so we had no subs and someone had to play in goal.

Travis in Year 4 bravely stepped into the squad so that we had 1 sub and off we went.Cameron stepped up and played in goal and he had a great game. We started slowly and found ourselves 1 - 0 down after just 1 minute. At half time it was 2 - 0 to Farndon and we needed some inspiration - on came Travis up front!

After just a few minutes, James broke down the right and set up his brother, Travis, to score. It was game on. Then, came the equalizer and Farndon began to dominate. With just minutes to go the ball broke once again to Travis and he buried it in the bottom left corner. It was 3 - 2. We defended for our lives, but Christleton didn't give up and in the dying seconds they nicked a third goal to draw level.

It was a fair result and a great game. The children took charge of the game themselves and it was played in the right spirit. All the team agreed that man of the match was an obvious choice - 2 goal hero Travis from Year 4; a debut for the school football team that he won't ever forget!
