Cup match

The Year 5 and 6 football team began their season with a very tricky cup match against Oldfields.

The last time the two teams met was in the cup and it ended in a defeat on penalties. It was an incredibly tight match and in the first half it was very even. Just before the break, Tom let fly with a sweet strike from distance to put us 1 - 0 up.

In the second half, Oldfields started strongly and were on top. They passed the ball well and we had to depend on our defenders Todd and Matthew. With only 5 minutes left, we had another long shot which the keeper spilled. Daniel was on hand to poke the ball home. It is fair to say it was a case of digging in at the end. We were grateful for the final whistle and it finished 2 - 0. We march on into the second round. Fingers crossed for a kind draw.

It is hard to split the 2 defenders for man of the match; both Matthew and Todd had fantastic games.
