Broxton Football Cup

Thursday was the yearly Broxton Federated Cup for football. We took 2 teams from Year 5 and 6. 

Our Year 6 team had a tough group! They started well with a well earned 1 - 0 win after a screamer from Todd. The next match was Malpas. They dominated but it ended with a draw at 1 - 1. Cameron's goal was an absolute peach! In the third game against Tattenhall, our team captain came off injured. The team dug in, but it finished with a 1 - 0 defeat. The final game was against Bickerton. It looked like it was heading for a draw, but Cameron burst down the right and crossed for Leo to win it 1 - 0. They made it into one of the finals against Tattenhall. The gave it their all with Todd bravely stepping in goal. But Tattenhall edged it 1 - 0. Player of the tournament was James; a terrific and determined display in defence. 

Our Year 5 team were in the other group. They began slowly with a 0 - 0 draw with Tushingham. However, in their next game against Tilston they dominated and Travis scored in a 1 - 0 win. Their third game was Malpas. It was a tough game but the team edged it 1 - 0. Shocklach were up next. The team were on fire now. A penalty from Daniel, a goal from a corner and a third from Tom led to a 3 - 0 win. The final game was against Tattenhall B. The team new a win took them to the final. The game finished 3 -0. 

The final was agianst Malpas. Nerves took hold and we rode our luck a little but the game finsihed 0 - 0. The dreaded penalties. Alex and Daniel scored and it was all level at 2 - 2. Tom bravely stepped up for the final penalty and he slammed it into the top corner. Freddie was then the hero and saved the last penalty. Champions! Player of the tournament was Alex. Confident and assured display in midfield.
