Basketball Tournament

After our success in the Phoenix tournament, we were hoping for a positive result in the Heber tournament.

We took two teams; Farndon Reds and Farndon Whites.

The Farndon Reds were in a tough group and faced Bickerton. It was a tricky match and we weren't at our best. We scored first with Oliver H, but mistakes cost us and they drew level and that is how it ended. Next up was a strong Malpas team. We played defensively and with only a minute left it was 0 - 0. However, from the edge of the touchline, one of their players scored from a near impossible angle making it a 2 - 0 loss. We were playing for pride now and in our last game we faced Tushingham B. Emily showed she hasn't lost her touch when shooting and scored in a 2 - 0 win.

Farndon Whites, led by Mr Bond, enjoyed a little more success in their group. Their first match was against Tushingham A and they were fast out of the blocks. Lottie and Harry scored 1 and James scored 2 in an 8 - 2 victory. Their second game was a tough one agaisnt Tattenhall. Harry and James scored again, as did Kian, Another convincing win with the scores 6 - 2. The Clutton games was close and James and Harry scored in a 4 - 2 win. With qualification to the final in their sights, only Tilston stood in their way. James scored the only basket in a 2 - 0 win.

Farndon Reds made the third / fourth play off and faced Tattenhall. The match was tight and it remained 0 - 0 until Emily got the ball in the attacking third. She made no mistake and scored to win 2 - 0. A third place finish.

The Farndon Whites faced Malpas in the final. In the match, both teams missed chances and it ended 0 - 0. Extra time beckoned. 2 minutes of extra time were almost up. As the hooter sounded, Malpas fired in a shot and it went in. A cruel way to lose but we had to settle for Runners Up this time.
