Christmas is well and truly on the way...

The Early Years children and Infants have been busy practising their Christmas plays. The Year 2 pupils gave me a personal performance of all their Christmas songs. They were so enthusiastic and they sounded great. To help prepare for the festive season I went with the Reception children to Threapwood to help choose the tree for our school. They had a great time, hanging their wishes on the tree and searching for things amongst the trees.

Then, there was the Christmas tree lights festival at St Chads church. Mrs Hartwell Jones and Mrs Mitchell worked hard to pull it altogether and they did a fantastic job! The theme was helping hands and the Year 4 pupils helped the Year 1 pupils to create decorations for our school tree. The finished tree looked great and I hope as many people as possible will come out and vote for us.

This week, we invited a Handwriting "guru" into school to look at how we teach handwriting in the school. He spent time teaching handwriting sessions in all the classes and the children did a fantastic job. I think it is easy sometimes to accept that some people don't particularly have neat handwriting but Martin Harvey doesn't accept this and thinks everyone can have neat handwriting. As a school, we now plan to look at his resources and think how best they can be used to improve our pupils' handwriting. Mrs Wakefield also plans to do a parent talk so similar messages can be given at home.

I can't wait for the next two weeks as Christmas well and truly takes over with Early Years next week, the Christmas Fair closely followed by the pantos and Infant show.
