Headteacher's blog Week Beginning 2nd February

Date: 8th Feb 2015 @ 3:52pm

It has been another busy week as we come close to the end of the first half term. It has literally flown by.

It was a busy week of sport. The handball team tried to defend their title they won from last year and they did such a wonderful job. After beating Tattenhall in the semi final, one of our teams made the final against Tushingham. It was incredibly tense and finished 5 – 5. Golden goal followed and it was Tushingham who won. Runners up this time, but it was certainly an exciting evening. And the following evening, the football team helped to banish the memories of the defeat with a 3 -2 victory against Tattenhall in the Chester District League. With 4 games to go, we are joint top of the league so it is all to play for against Acresfield on Monday. I have just returned from IKEA and found a really good glass cabinet to display all our trophies we have won this last year. Can't wait to see how it looks in the front entrance.

Recently, we had a visit from our school improvement partner who is also an OFSTED inspector!! He was hugely impressed with our topic books from the Autumn term, and I know the children can’t wait to show them off in parents’ evening. He also commented on the fantastic progress in the children’s writing in their Literacy books. I saw this first hand this week when I saw the Year 5 and 6 in Mrs Wakefield’s class writing some wonderful letters to Prince Charles; I wasn’t aware we had a direct line to the palace!

In Year 3, I had a look at their art work they are producing for the up and coming Art exhibition. Parents will have the opportunity to view the art work, which will be framed, from all the different year groups and be able to purchase their own child’s work.

In Year 4, I watched some of their preparation for their dance project with Miss Schofield. The children were thoroughly enjoying the session and they were preparing a dance linked to their topic on Aboriginal culture. After the session, some of the children said their muscles ached, so Miss Schofield certainly has got them well drilled. I can’t wait to see the final show at the Heber. A letter will be sent out soon as 1 parent from each family will be able to go and watch us perform with other schools at the Heber. See the website for more details.
