Headteacher blog Week beginning 1st June

Date: 7th Jun 2015 @ 3:26pm

It was great to see everyone back from half term with a big smile on their face.

The school was busy place over half term. The staff were happy as their staff room had a make over - they have a dishwasher at last! I hope this means no more dirty cups left on the side ( admittedly mainly by myself ). Also, we made improvements on the lower playground. We removed the ramp to gain extra space for the children to play and improved the path leading to the school door.

We were lucky enough for the talented Year 5 pupils in maths and science to attend a day at Abbey Gate college. They had an enjoyable day mixing chemicals, using Bunsen burners and solving complex maths problems. They did incredibly well and you can find out more in the gallery and read a pupil blog from year 5.

It was such a shame that Infant sports day had to be cancelled. It was such a difficult decision as forecasts promised brighter weather in the afternoon, however there were weather warnings for strong winds. We did have some showers in the afternoon and so it was probably the right decision. Obviously, we only had the one reserve date so we have rescheduled for the 30th June to give parents as much notice as we could in respect of organising time away from work. The teachers and children have worked hard practising their events and many of the pupils are desperately hoping the weather will be kind to us on the 30th so they get the chance to perform.

Just to remind parents that you can access the VLE off the school website. Currently, there are discussion forums on SMSC and health and safety across the school. There is also a questionnaire on PE and how we spend the sports premium.
