Head's blog Week Beginning 29th September

Date: 28th Sep 2014 @ 8:42am

There have been so many things happening in school this week.

Firstly, huge conratulations to the Year 3 and 4 rugby team. After several training sessions from myself and Mr Bond, the children competed in the tournament against other local schools. They performed fantastically well and I was so disappointed I could not go and see it myself because Mr Bond tells me it was very tense!! Sudden death try in the final. It is always nice to win and come back with a trophy, but as always it was the attitude and behaviour of the children that pleased me the most.

The Year 3 and 4 children had a fantastic Cave Man day last week. The children caused a real stir in the village as residents saw cave men walking to school with clubs. The children had a fantastic time erecting tents and making their own miniture caves back in class. This is the first time our children have learnt about the Stone Age and they are certainly enjoying it. A big thank you to the Parents that helped and Miss Schofield, Mrs Cornforth and Mrs Hughes who looked very fetching in their outfits.

On Friday the school celebrated European Day of languages. All the children studied different countries.  Remik and Kacper did a marvellous job translating the assembly in Polish and the Year 6 children could not get enough of the Polish food. Year 5 found the German food an aquired taste. Year 2 looked at Portugal and made some fantastic tiles which they had to paint.

It was pleasing to see the amount of Year 5 and 6 Parents who attended the Parent Meeting. The responses from Parents were very positive and we will look to do similar meetings like these in the future.

Am looking forward to next week and the Harvest Festival in chuch and Year 5 and 6's Victorian Day on Tuesday.
