Rugby Champions

Lesson: Physical Development

Class: Year 6 Kestrels Year: 2016 - 2017

The rugby season has started. The Year 5 and 6 team have been working hard at lunchtimes to prepare for the Heber rugby tournament. We have never made the final so we were hoping this year would be different.

It started with tense 4 - 4 draw with Tilston, which were then followed with some convincing wins. 6 - 3 victories against Clutton and Tattenhall were followed up by a 4 - 3 win against Malpas.

The semi-final could nothave been closer; finger nails were being chewed. We edged it 6 - 5 and made the final for the first time. We met Clutton in the final and in the dying seconds, with the scores level at 4 - 4, Todd found a way through to score the winning try! A 5 - 4 victory and champions in rugby at last!

The following week it was  the turn of our Year 3 and 4 team. They did a fantastic job and won all 6 of their games! Tushingham was close with a 5 - 4 win. Malpas was a 6 - 1 win. Tilston followed 4 - 0 and then Shocklach was a 5 - 0 victory. The last two matches were 5 - 3 agaisnt Bickerton and 5 - 1 against Clutton. All the children were fantastic. Caleb put in a real captains performance. Jonnie scored several tries and Amelia was amazing at getting those tags. Harley put in a star performance with 3 tries. Man of the Match though was Oliver CB!
