The Arts, Craft and Design

Promoting the Arts; unlocking the potential

We believe the arts are a vital part of a broad and balanced curriculum. We feel that the arts help children to observe, interpret, select, control, analyse and evaluate through investigation, realisation and reflection. All staff are encouraged to utilise the arts in a rich and positive way. We believe our work in this area meets Article 31 for the Rights of the Child which states that every child has the right to relax, play and take part in a wide range of cultural and artistic activities.

At Farndon, we aim to provide a thematic curriculum where topics are enhanced and brought alive through the study of dance, music, drama and art that relates to what the pupils are learning. These subjects are enhanced throughout the school through themed days, projects and performance.
