Sporting Achievements

This year, Farndon is determined to build on the successes of last year. We will continue to strive to ensure that we provide all pupils with the opportunity to participate in range of different sports and to promote a healthy lifestyle.

September 2018

Sadly, cross country was cancelled due to bad weather. We are hoping the Heber will re-schedule this event. 

The Year 6 pupils had their OAA curriculum for PE at Robinwood. They had an amazing time, participating in various team challenges, zip wire and raft building. 

Well the rugby season got off to a flyer! Our Year 5 and 6 team went into the tournament as defending champions. They won their group comfortably, winning all four of their games. They beat Tilston in the semi-final 5 -1. Then, it was Bickerton once again in the final. 1 -1 finish meant extra time. Then, we ran home four tries to win 4 -1. Rugby Champions

In the first round of the Cheshire West cup, we found ourselves up against St Oswalds. We started brightly, but we hit on the break to go 1 - 0 down. We came back well, but with time running out it was 2 -2. Oliver scored with seconds left to give us a 3 - 2 victory.

The Year 3 and 4 rugby team went to the Broxton tournament to defend their crown. They won most of their group games and then met Tushingham in the final. It was a convincing win. Rugby Champions

The Infants went to Superhero boot camp at Outlook Meadow. They took part in an assault course. 

October 2018

The Year 5 and 6 team played 3 league matches in one night in a round robin tournament. Although playing the better football, they were desperately unlucky to come away with 3 defeats: After dominating against Highfields, they lost 2 - 1. Their heads were down and they lost to Dee Point 3 - 1. In the final match they went down to a last minute goal against Acresfield 1 - 0. 

The Year 3 and 4 team played against the same school for their league matches and won all 3 matches! They top the group which means they qualify for the finals later in the year!. League Champions

We took part in the Heber Hockey tournament and took two teams. Our second team did extremely well, winning 4 matches and losing only 2. Our first team won 5 matches but unfortunately lost to Malpas. Second and third place finishes this time. Runners Up

Our cross country team did really well. It was second place this time with wins for Oliver, Josh and Emily. Runners Up

Well after the 3 league defeats, the Year 5/6 team got back to winning ways! They put in a wonderful team performance against Blue Coats, winning 5 - 2. 

November 2018

Our Year 5 and 6 girls team entered the Chester Distict tournament. We were looking to improve having lost all our games last year we didn't even score a goal! We won all our group games without conceding. After a tense 1 - 0 against St Clares, we made the final. In the final, we gave away a penalty and lost 1 - 0. Runners Up. 

It was the turn of the Year 5 and 6 boys in the Chester District Cup. Sadly, they didn't get out of the group as they lost their 4 matches and didn't score. They played well and had the chances but today we just couldn't take them.

January 2019

The Year 5 and 6 girls qualified for the Cheshire football finals. They were in a tough group, drawing 1 match and losing 2. Thanks to a top class finish from Amelia, our goal difference meant we finished third in the group. They were the first girl football team in Farndon to ever reach the Cheshire finals and they even scored a few points - well done girls. 

The Year 3 and 4 pupils did fantastically well at the Heber Indoor Athletics Tournament. Winning several races, they earnt an incredible 161 points. It was enough to win and bring another trophy home. Champions

Our Year 5 and 6 football team had a tough night against Waverton, losing 6 - 0. The league is lost for this year but still the cup to come. 

March 2019

Our Year 5 and 6 team took part in the Broxton Athletics tournament. There were some commited performances but it was equal third place this time. 

Year 5 and 6 fotball cup match agaisnt Acresfield. A 3 - 0 defeat so the dream is over for another year. 

The Year 5 and 6 Netball team competed in the Broxton tournament. They got all the way to the final once again. However, they lost to Tattenhall so runners up this time. Runners Up

The Year 2 football team did so well in the Mini Kickers tournament. We drew 3 and lost one, scoring 1 goal. We were one match away from the semi-finals. 

On Sunday, our Year 5 and 6 basketball team took part in the Hoops for Health tournament. They won their first 2 matches and drew the next two to qualify for the final at half time in the Phoenix match. It was tense and finished with a sudden death penalty shoot out. Jonnie and Emily were fearless and scored. Champions


We took two basketball teams to the Heber tournament. The Farndon Reds qualified for the third and fourth play off and beat Tattenhall 2 - 0. The Farndon Whites won their group, winning all their games! They played Malpas in the final and it finished level. They scored a winner as the hooter went for the end of extra time. Runners Up

We took a Year 2 football team to the Heber tournament with a squad of 5 boys and 3 girls. They won all of their 6 games and won the tournament, conceding just 2 goals. Champions!

We also took a Year 3 and 4 football team to the Heber High School for a tournament with other local schools. They won 5 adn drew 1, without even conceding a goal. Champions!

With the absence of the Year 4 pupils, we sent a Year 3 team to the Deeside Ramblers hockey tournament. They played admirably and all the games were close. We lost our first 4 games 1 - 0,all the goals coming in the last seconds. We got a few draws and finished 9th. 


Broxton Rounders and Year 5 and 6 football were sadly cancelled. Our Year 6 Rounders team took part in a Cheshire tournament. They won all their group games and then beat St Clare's in the Semi Final 2.5 vs 5. We met Saughall in the final - the defending champions. It was a 5 - 1 defeat. Runners Up

The Year 5 and 6 Cricket team entered the Broxton tournament. After a narrow defeat on the last ball against Malpas, we went on to we the next 3. It wasn't enough and we made the 3rd and 4th place play off, winning convincingly against Bickerton. Third Place


Well it was that time of year again - Deanery athletics. There were some stand out wins from several of our performers. We were defending champions so it was fingers crossed. We won the team sack race and we retained the team long distance. It was a tense wait to see who won overall. Second place this time with 148 points. Bickerton pipped us by 6 points. Team win sack; Team win long distance; Runners Up Overall

Our Year 4 cricket team competed against other Broxton schools in the Diamond cricket. They played 5 games and won them all. The trophy was retained! Champions

The Year 4 football team went to the champions finals having won the league. They drew both their group games 0 - 0. It then had to be decided on a golden goal. Lost on this occasion but they gave it their all.
