Dance and Drama
Our pupils are given the opportunity and encouraged to participate in speech and language and drama opportunities across each of the year groups.
Each year, our pupils participate in the Speech and Language competition held at the Kings school. Teachers hold after school clubs to prepare the pupils for this event. Children have the opportunity to learn and perform selected poems. Over the years, we have enjoyed much success in what is a very competitive competition. This year, our Year 6 pupils finished 1st and 2nd!
Christmas is always a busy time of year! Every year, our Early Years department put on a play to the whole school and their parents. Our Key Stage 1 classes put on a Christmas show which inludes singing, dancing and acting.
In the summer, our Junior classes put on a show and it rotates between the upper and lower juniors every 2 years. Last year, the Upper Juniors put on Midsummer Summer Nights Dream. It was a truly wonderful show. Previous shows include Jospeh and the Technicolour Coat and Dazzle. This year the Year 5 and 6 pupils performed Shakespeare's Midsummer Nights Dream. This Year, it is the turn of Year 3 and 4 who will be linking their show to their topic of Ancient Greece: "Greece Goes to Pieces"
For Dance, Miss Schofield runs a range of clubs including cheerleading and street dance.
In Year 4, the children take part in a dance festival with other schools in the local area. Last year, a group of Year 3 and 4 children took part in an event at Bishop Heber before Spring break to celebrate 100 years of dance. The children showcased their talents in a one-off performance for parents. There was everything from the charleston to rock'n'roll. Farndon went back to 1978 with a disco routine to 'Blame it on the Boogie'.
