Rounders Tournament

Well the weather held off and we finally managed to get a tournament in without it being cancelled!!!

We were against 24 other Cheshire schools in the rounders tournament. Mrs Wakefield took on the baton from Mrs Higley and had the team very well drilled. We were in a tough group - win it and we would make the semi finals.

We started well agaisnt Upton Heath, conceding only 1/2 a point and winning quite comfortably. Next up was Tarvin. We conceded our first full rounder - a young Year 5 whipper snapper called Daniel Walker - recognise the name? But it wasn't enough and it was a second win for Farndon. Acresfield had some big hitters, but great fielding from our team limited their score and we had our third win. Our final game was against St Martins. We gifted them a couple of rounders, but our batting team soon whittled off the runs and it was 4 wins out of 4.

We met St Clares in the semi final. We fielded first and the children were inspired! Outstanding fielding led to a low run chase. It was a win and we were in the final.

It was Saughall in the final - who had won it for the last 3 years!!! They were a strong batting team and piled on the points, scoring 5. It was too much and so runners up this time. The team did amazingly well to come second out of 24 teams considering rain limited our practise sessions. Well done to Mrs Wakefield who did a great job preparing the team.
