Hockey Tournament

On Thursday, we played in the Heber hockey tournament.

We took two teams with Mr Bond with the Farndon Reds and Mr Walker with the Farndon Stripes.

Farndon Stripes played a strong Malpas team first and we were caught a little cold. We were on the back foot throughout and we lost 2 - 0. However, we remained strong and in the next match against Clutton we defended much better. With just minutes left Arabellla smashed it home for a 1 - 0 win. Next up we played Tushingham. Oliver scored early for us and then Lottie was outstanding in defence to help us to a second 1 - 0 win.

Our third match was against Shocklach and we had really found our rhythm. Arabella played a lovely ball through for Harry to slot it home. Scarlett had her best game and made an important tackle and then played it through for Oliver to score his second. A 2 - 0 win. Our next game was against Farndon Reds. After starting well, we were put under pressure, losing eventually 3 - 0. But spirits remained high and we saved our best performance for Tilston. Oliver scored again, but it was Harry that was on fire he scored two; one of which was great stick control and a brilliant finish when it was such a tight angle. A 3 - 0 victory. Farndon Stripes, with 4 wins managed to finish third; a terrific achievement. Harry from Year 5 was our player of the tournament - a future Olympic hockey star!

The Farndon Reds were managed by Mr Bond. They blasted out of the starting blocks with a 5 - 0 win against Shocklach. Oliver and Jonnie scored twice and James got 1. Sadly, their result against Malpas was the same as the stripes - a 2 - 0 defeat.

They quickly got that out of their heads and Jachym was on fire, scoring a hat trick in a 3 - 0 win. Tilston suffered the same fate with Jonnie scoring 2 goals and James 1. Then, it was the derby agaisnt Farndon Stripes and another 3 - 0 win - this time Jonnie got the hat trick. They finished the tournament against  Tushingham, winning 2 -1. Olivia grabbed a goal and Jachym added to his tally.

Malpas played well and this time walked away with the trophy as they won all 6 matches. Runners up this time.
