Deeside Ramblers Hockey

The Year 6 pupils have been busy practising their hockey skills this term. Mrs Haggis came and coached the children and Mrs Higley has been doing weekly hockey sessions.

We picked a team of Year 6 pupils to particpate in the Deeside Ramblers Hockey tournament. Having already won the cross country and the rugby, hopes were high to retain our trophy which we won last year.

The team gave it their all and they performed extremely well. Their first match was against Tarvin and it was a confident start, winning 4 - 0.

Next up was Tattenhall. We had some great matches last year, beating them in the final in this tournament, but they got revenge in the Broxton tournament, beating us in extra time. It was a close game, but we edged it with a 1 - 0 victory. Our third match was against Eaton and we conceded our first goal but still managed to win 3 - 1.

With 3 wins morale was high. Bunbury though proved a tough test. They had the majority of the chances but the team dug in and it ended 1 -1. Our final match was agaisnt Mickle Trafford and we rounded off the tournament with a comfortable 3 - 1 victory.

The rain brought a premature end to the tournament and it meant with 4 wins and a draw we retained our crown from last year. The winning run continues!Sadly, the Broxton hockey tournament which waas planned to take place after school was cancelled.
