Chester Football Cup

On Friday, our Year 5 and 6 football team competed against 26 other Chester schools in the Chester Schools U11 Tournament.

We were in a group with 2 other schools who we had to play twice. Our first match was against J H Godwin. The games were short and the first goal would be crucial. After good work from Cameron, his shot was deflected and fell to Daniel who scored. Next up was Mill View. It was a tight game, but Leonard burst forward from defence and set up Todd to score. Both games finished with a 1 - 0 win. Then, we had to play the same two teams again. Both finishing with 1 - 0 wins with goals from Daniel and Leo.

With 4 wins, we qualified for the Quarter Finals where we met Huntingdon. It was a tight game with both teams playing with a tight defence, but Freddie, our school goalkeeper, saved us several times. Finsihing 0 - 0, it went to the dreaded penalty shoot out. Sadly, we lost 2 - 1. However, all the children put in a fantastic performance; all of the boys can hold their heads high knowing that throughout the whole afternoon they didn't lose a game or even concede a goal. Well done everyone. Onwards and upwards with Quarter final of the cup to look forward to and sitting top of the league.
