Broxton Football Tournaments

It was the day of the Broxton Cup torunaments for the Infants and Lower Juniors.

The Year 1 and 2 team were defending champions from last year and were hoping to retain their trophy. As captain, Jamie led from the front and everyone gave it their all. Things didn't start well with a 2 - 0 defeat to Malpas. But they didn't drop their heads and beat Tushingham in their next match 5  - 0 with Jamie scoring all the goals. They followed this up with a victory over Bickerton with another 2 goals from Jamie to win 2 - 0.

They were then on a high and Tattenhall were next in their sights. Oliver from Year 1 scored and Jamie got 3 in a 4 - 0 win. Against Shoklach, Rhys J was on the score sheet along with Jamie in a 3 - 0 win. 4 clean sheets in a row. The last game would decide where the trophy would go. It was a tense match which could have gone either way but We had chances but didn't take them and Tilston nicked a goal to win 1 - 0. They edged it and won the tournament. Runners Up this time. It was a fantastic effort though. Man of the match had to be Jamie - a goal machine!

After school, the Year 3 and 4 team competed against all the other local schools. It has been a tough campaign this year with goals hard to come by but we hoped for a change in fortunes at this tournament. We started well with a 3 - 0 victory against a good Malpas side. The team started to believe in themselves. But it wasn't to last long. We then lost to Tushingham 1 - 0 and Tattenhall by the same score line. Bickerton was a tough match and we were well beaten 3 - 0. In the final game, we had a morale boosting 4 - 0 win over Shocklach. Josh had another good game up front and Halt and Jachym put in solid performances. But it was Ben from Year 3 who was man of the match, a great debut and 3 important goals.
